Point-of-Care (POC) healthcare technologies is an essential module of affordable global healthcare and require unremitting evolution of innovation in computing, information and communication technologies. Early and accurate diagnosis of a disease is an immediate need in healthcare. The turnaround time required for clinicians should also be reduced. The low reproducibility of the image interpretation in the clinical routine and current practice opens room for the development of computational systems to assist clinicians in the diagnosis. Diagnostic accuracy determines success of intervention. The capacity for computers to aid the diagnostician and support in decision making is emergent.
Computer-aided detection (CADe), also called Computer-aided diagnosis (CADx), are procedures in medicine that assist doctors (with computer ‘learned’ expert opinion) in the rapid interpretation and diagnosis of medical images. CADx is a relatively young interdisciplinary technology combining elements of artificial intelligence and digital image analysis with radiological image processing, specifically with tremendous potential utility in limited experience/skill setting in the developing world. CADx software improves the sensitivity of the diagnostic process by pointing out diagnostic hypotheses that might be missed or delayed and can manage the volume of information in the diagnostic process.

Our Innovation is vendor neutral CADx plug-in for rapid, consistent diagnosis of critically ill and infected patients in resource limited, high burden care emergency units. Mausumi Acharyya, PhD
Founder, CEO, Technology Head
Mausumi has been in the IT industry for over 13 years and over 20 years of research experience. She has a rich experience in multifarious domains and distinguished exposure in applications of Signal/Image processing, Medical Image Processing, Machine Learning and Vision. She has an in-depth understanding and extensive knowledge of the designing and development of Computer Aided Diagnostic Tools.
She has served as a Lead Engineer in GE Global Research, Bangalore and as a Senior Scientist in Siemens Medical Solutions, Bangalore, India, specializing in Medical Imaging Solutions. She has also served as a Senior Scientist in a National Defense Laboratory in Bangalore. Her research interests include medical imaging, image processing and analysis, image/data compression, wavelets, soft computing, data mining and knowledge discovery, machine learning, machine vision, remote sensing, biometrics and bio-informatics.
She has a considerable list of well cited publications in well refereed journals and conferences and a number of patents to her credit.
In Advenio she is the Head of Research & Product Management is responsible in providing product vision and key research solutions, generating intellectual properties resulting in significant business gains.
She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India and has Postdoctoral experience from the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Kunal Bose, PhD
COO, Operations Head
Kunal is an experienced nanotechnologist and a passionate social tech entrepreneur in transition focused on disruptive and affordable advanced point of care diagnostics for healthcare delivery systems serving lower segments of economic pyramid in LMIC/emerging markets. Kunal previously led nanotechnology business operations for South Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa for Agilent Technologies (formerly Hewlett Packard Test & Measurements) prior to which he worked as an applications specialist with Bruker Instruments Asia Pacific, managing high value account relationships with public & private sector customers.
Kunal holds B. Technology and PhD degree’s from The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (1999, Materials Engg.) and Southampton University, UK (2003, Materials & Bioengineering) respectively and his academic research career included postdoctoral stints as British Nuclear Fuels – Leeds University research fellow in particle technology, NIH fellow in Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, NY and most recently with NanoLab Nijmegen, Radboud University, Nederlands.
Kunal has been a plenary speaker and a part of special discussion groups in nanotechnology forums in the region including the Inaugural Islamic States Nanotechnology Conference (IWCN, Malaysia, 2007), Bangalore Nano (2009/10) and MIT- Emerging Technologies Conference (India, 2009/10).
